(For Del Simon)

Jagged lightning struck,
And where it harshly tickled,
A white lilac grows.

Forget-me-nots bloom:
Wet, not with water, but from
Sad love’s crystal tears.

A swirl of dead leaves,
The dry hem of Autumn’s gown,
Whisps my face softly.

Daisies in a field
Twirl like yellowhite pinwheels,
From the warm sun’s breath.
